Dissociative Amnesia

One weekend, Priyanka went to a party. When her friend asked her about the party the following day, she could only partially remember a few people and occurrences; the rest of her memory had been obliterated.

Priyanka experienced abuse as a child, which is why she has dissociative amnesia. A transient loss of memory due to dissociation is a feature of this illness.

This memory loss, which can occur suddenly or over an extended period, is frequently the consequence of psychological trauma.

There is much more to dissociative amnesia than just forgetfulness. Individuals with this illness might recall certain facts about past occurrences, but they might not remember other aspects within a specific time frame.
